Our Hope & Faith Is In God
Is your faith suffering? Are you worried, feeling anxious? Are you fearful or scared about the future? What about watching the news? Reports on wars, hatred, self-indulgence, corruption, slandering as well as on natural disasters concerning earthquakes, forest fires, floods, famine and more? Luke and Timothy give an account of things we will see and come to know in the last days. But do not fret! There is glorious ending to this age-old story, if you are a Christian.
Luke 21:11 (NKJV)
11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV)
Perilous Times and Perilous Men
3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Faith is something that starts out small, just as the church started out small with the apostles sharing and teaching the gospel. And over time the epistles and Apostles’ letters taught us more about Jesus and why faith was important in our Christian walk.
Self Indulgence hate, senseless murder. lies, sexual immorality, the list goes on. All of them allow you to discover a diverse look at what is happening in the world today and how it may be reflected in the Bible. I hope your belief will be challenged as well as your way of thinking. There will be times when the truth will be painful but we must know and believe God’s word is truth. So many churches today sugar coat their sermons and preach acceptance and tolerance in today’s culture. They bend God’s word to be aligned with the world’s
thinking. We may have a compassionate heart for equality and a need to justify people’s emotions and actions. However, if it does not agree with God’s word then you need to reassess your thinking. Is it going to be God’s truth and eternal life or the ways of this world (Satan’s) and a destination to the lake of fire? It is, in all reality a choice of life eternity) and death (eternal fire). This is one of the first hard truths we need to accept. But the goal is strengthening our faith and being prepared to stand against the enemy. The year of 2016 was more eye-opening for many of us than ever before in recent memory. The biggest event last year was the presidential election. This altered the emotions of millions of citizens to incite hatred, destruction, false accusations, greed, pride and a number of other actions. This election along with other events such as black lives matter, abortions, equal rights, sexuality have caused a massive divisions among the people. Please know this is not a forum to voice political views or opinions of negativity or hatred. They will be deleted. The purpose of mentioning these events is to make readers aware that there is much more is going on in this world than what we take in with our eyes and ears. There is a spiritual battle that has been raging since the time of Adam and Eve. Now, as the church age is coming to an end the battle is once again escalating in full force.
The world is in the midst of prophecy and it is becoming evident all around us and across the world. Are you where you want to be with God? Is your faith to the point you are completely secure in your relationship with Jesus Christ? Do you find yourself worrying or doubting about the future? Are you living the obedient life God desires for you? Many questions to ponder. We as the human race have grown numb to the world around us. With technology we see and know things the instant it happens. Wars are just part of the routine. We have grown accustomed to hearing about disasters such as earthquakes and floods, drought, famine which have become the norm these days. No one giving a second thought about it. If it does not affect us directly then it is just not important enough to concern ourselves. Oh yes, we will donate to charities and express our sorrow for others going through unspeakable disasters and acts of war. Unfortunately, as a culture and society we have learned to tolerate and accept much of what is happening in the world as, “well that is just the way it is,” attitude. So what does this mean? It means we are part of the problem. We want to have a life we desire. We follow our own direction, look for the worst in people, wanting more money to have nicer things, and in today’s world for a large percentage of the millennials it is all about themselves. The list is almost endless when it comes to wanting for ourselves. Now, none of us is perfect and we have many flaws, many of them we keep in secret. Maybe not a big flaw. How a person dresses, or wishing you had nicer things like a neighbor or friend. How you might not like someone because they are different from you or you have sexual thoughts about a co-worker maybe. The thoughts in our minds can be pretty evil at times. Even scary if we think about it.
